Harold went to one of our two (band?) reunions...and came up to me and said "Do you remember who I am?"  I answered: "Remind me...we look kinda different with age".  He replied: "You gave me my first drum lesson."  Yep, I remembered...in a practice room (more of a closet) in the 5th floor band room, instead of lunch room or study hall, and the years afterward in the percussion section.  After a while of chatting about our lives, but not our professions, I asked him: "And what do you do now?"  He answered: "I'm a professional drummer and work in Las Vegas!" 

Wow, I've told that anecdote to quite a few youngsters interested in music at the American School in Mexico City....it even impacted one in particular...he took up drums (in part to show me he could do what I did) and went on to become and Eagle Scout (even though in a foreign country) and study music.

I could never repay the joy that comment gave me...I helped in some little way...

Sad he is still not with us to hear my comment again.

Wow, your story touched my heart! 

I have not been to any of the other reunions, since my name changed and they were before the internet...so I wonder what stories will come!   All of us touched each other in some way.   But the one you wrote about is special!
