Wow, how do you put 50 years onto paper? After Schurz I worked for the Social Security Administration Payment Center in downtown Chicago. When I got married in 1968 I moved to South Bend, In. and worked for SSA in a district office. Joe and I were there for 2 years while he finished up his PhD at Notre Dame. In 1970 we moved to Louisville, Ky. and I worked for SSA until our first child was born in 1971. I was a stay- at- home mom until both of the children were in college and then decided to go to work as a part-time receptionist and retired from that in 2009. My favorite thing in the whole world is spending time with my 3 granddaughters (soon to be 4 granddaughters.) I've been fortunate to travel all over the US including Alaska and to many countries in Europe. Beside my family, my loves are travel, books, movies and lots of time spent with good friends.

I remember swimming and showers (which everyone hated!) In Home Economics we had to make a dress and I couldn't sew worth a darn. We had to wear what we made one day for a "fashion" show and so I wore my blue dress. I never wore it again! I remember having wonderful friends and going to basketball games to watch the good looking guys play. I cut class one time in four years and got caught!! I remember loving to sing the school song "We praise thee old Carl Schurz."
