I met Marilyn when I transferred to Schurz in our junior year.  We attended N.I.U. together, were roommates and became good friends.  After graduation, she began her work career as an art teacher .  When she married Jon Price,  I was a bridesmaid.  Jon and Marilyn lived in Missouri for a time and then moved back to Illinois.   Marilyn, Jon, Christopher and Steven moved from their home in Skokie to a new home in Mission Viejo, California in the late '70's, not too long after the birth of their second son.  Eventually she started her own successful art school studio providing an important creative and cultural outlet much needed in their community.  Her family and her church were always very important to her.  My son and I spent many family vacations with her family in California.  Her boys were very active in Scouting and inspired my own son to earn his Eagle Scout Badge, just as Chris and Steve had.  Her untimely passing in 2004 left a large void in the lives of those who knew her. Marilyn was a very dear friend and I miss her very much.  Please share your memories of her.

Thanks, Carey Ries

I posted my comments about how I first  knew Marilyn and would love to hear from those of you who knew her in grade school and the first two years of high school.  We had some wonderful memories double dating and going bowling at the Habelter Lanes, eating pizza at "the Bella Pizza", ice cream at "Buffalo"  We often got together with Bernie Kylar and Virgie McCreadie  (Anyone know where they are living now??) At NIU she had that little ford convertible that was so much fun and provided us with transportation when my 1960 Comet would not "turn over" on cold mornings at NIU when we had to get to classes from our off campus apartment!

I knew Marilyn when we went to Edgebrook School.  She lived down the street from me so every morning I would stop to get her and we would walk to school together.  I always seemed to get to her house when her family was eating breakfast and her mother always made me a piece of toast with cream cheese on it.  Also, her father would pick me up every Sunday and drive Marilyn, her sister Barbara and myself to Sunday School.  I think he was a sunday school teacher.  I had fondmemories of her living on my block in Edgebrook.  I am sorry she has passed.

If you kremember Carol Ries Moffit, she is looking for Virgie McCreadie who lives 108 Kyle Lane Kirkland, IL 60148-7908.  I do not have a phone number for her any more and she does not have a computer.  Her husband died in 2007.  We usually exchange Christmas cards and that is how we have managed to stay in touch.  Pam Smith Smith.  I was in the January 1963 Class.

I first met Marilyn Marselos in 5th grade at Edgebrook Grammar School. We became friends from the moment we met. We had a very small 8th grade class- a total of 7, Three boys and Four girls.that included Marilyn, Glenda, Janie, Willie, Lonnie and Sam and of course me. Our class enjoyed alot of good times at school and after when we went for french fries and a coke at Lockwood Castle. Marilyn and I often went shopping together in grade school and in high school. Her family always made me feel welcome in their home too.   When Marilyn told me she was going to marry Jon, she asked me to stand up at her wedding. Those were wonderful days and years as friends together. When I heard she passed away, I had to look up the old photos and sure enough the wedding photos were included.  I looked up my old year books and saw what she had wrote to me So many years ago. I'm so sorry we lost contact after we moved from Morton Grove to Phoenix. She was a wonderful friend, sorely missed by me and others.

enclosed is a picture from AUG 1969  MARILYN'S Wedding (Marilyn and Kathy Fischer)

I knew Marilyn from High School.   She was one of the Edgebrook kids.   We rode to school on CTA together.   We were part of the PF group in the neighborhood.   We went to parties together....and generally had a good time.   She was an influence in my life.   I was so sad to hear of her passing.
