Chet was an English and French teacher when we were at Schurz, where he taught for four or five years. He directed "Oklahoma", "Teahouse of the August Moon", "Brigadoon", "The Miracle Worker", "My Fair Lady" and others. During the summers of '65, '66 and '67 he did musicals and children's plays in storefronts around the northwest side of Chicago with high school and college students. Before Schurz he was in the Army in Germany during the Korean War, taught at St. Mel High School and after Schurz had a thirty-five year career teaching and developing the theater program at Lewis University in Romeoville that has produced dozens of professionals. He was a Jeff Awards judge in Chicago, seeing every play in the city for the past sixteen years. He was currently developing and supporting the theater program at St. Pat's High School. He went to Wrigley Field after the big win, and was downtown for the Cubs Parade. The night before he died he went to a play and had drinks with a friend until one am. He was remembered at a funeral in Chicago on November 11 as a great friend, mentor, life-changer, teacher, and phenomenal party animal. He was a "life-aholic."

R.I.P. I remember him best because I was on the Stage Crew for Teahouse of the August Moon and Brigadoon, which were fantastic plays and he did a really fine job. He will be sorely missed.
