I knew Roger as part of an extended group of friends at Schurz and had not seen him after graduation. After he died of a heart attack on March 5, 2007, the Tribune and Daily Herald had long articles and obituaries because he had advanced to the position of president and CEO of Alexian Brohters Medical Center in Elk Grove where he had been employed for 30 years. I read these articles at the time and searched for them to write this commmentary. He was credited in these articles with significantly expanding the Center during his tenure.

He married classmate Angela Kunze whom he dated while at Schurz in 1966.He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in psychology. He and Angela had three daughters and one son.

He was the best friend of Jim Dandellis, who also was in our class at Schurz, and he and Jim saw each other for breakfast or dinner every Tuesday. Jim passed away in 2012.

As Schuzites, we can all be proud of Roger for his contrbution to the expansion and improvement of healthcare in the northwest suburbs.
