I'm so sorry -- and rather shocked -- to read that my "old locker partner" has died. Does anyone know where and when?

I too am shocked to hear about Nancy.  We went to the same grammar school.  She was a very sweet person.

Nancy Lenell was the only person that my wife Elaine knew before she met me that I also knew. She went to the same Evangelical Free church as my wife in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. At the same time, Nancy for several years was in English classes with me at Schurz. Elaine and I were looking forward to seeing her and letting her know that we met and married after she knew both of us. Sadly, this meeting will not occur due to Nancy's passing.

Elaine and I left a message for Nancy's sister which was returned by her husband , Rick Geu, who said Marcia still finds it difficult to talk about Nancy's awful death. Rick told us that Nancy died when a car crossed the grassy median of an interstate highway in Mobile, Alabama on March 5,2011 and hit her car headon. It was a very rainy day and the accumulation of water on the road contrbuted to the loss of control by the other driver.

Rick told us that Nancy had married Dave Kimmel, now a retired attorney who grew up in Louisiana. They had three children and nine grandchildren. They lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the last 44 years of Nancy's life. Nancy worked as a Head Nurse at a hospital. She had gone to nursing school in the Metamora-Peoria area of Illinois.

Rick said the Nancy served people in her work and through her church activities her entire life.

I remember Nancy as an intelligent, pleasant, and dignified young lady. Elaine and I regret that we will not be able to see her again at the reunion.
