Tom graduated from Southern Illinois University and went on to teach business in Chicago. He left teaching and worked for Montgomery Wards as a buyer in lighting. He traveled extensively in this position and loved the design part of his job. When Wards closed, he went back into teaching. Tom had a creative talent and loved to decorate and create unique outdoor settings for the different homes he lived in over his lifetime. One of his favorite was a summer place he had in Door County. His home in Des Plaines had many pieces he collected when he would travel to the Orient. He loved to entertain his nieces. He would take them on weekends and go to the zoo, make homemade pizza and other fun outings. He had the best sense of humor and could entertain the little ones along with the adults. His sisters and brother continue to miss him.

I knew Tom since we were in Beaubien Elementary School together, although he was in the January class and I was in the June class. My late sister Lilyan and his sister Joyce were the best of friends at Beaubien, Schurz, and then as college roommates at Southern Illinois University. Through their close friendship, i would occasionally see Tom or hear about him. My wife and I have been in a dinner group for years and on a few occasions Tom was involved with this group. From my discussions with Tom , i knew that he enjoyed teaching business classes at Marshall High School in Chicago. He was always a pleasant , good natured fellow. I was sad to learn of his passing in 1998.
